Winning Around the World: Apex Optics Shooters Dominate in March
Mark Stevens2025-04-06T16:01:46-06:00As the competition season ramps up around the world, Apex Optics shooters are proving they’re a force to be reckoned with. March was packed with high-level matches across multiple disciplines, from precision rifle to hunting-style competitions, and Team Apex showed up in a big way. With the warmer months ahead and match calendars filling up, we’re seeing the momentum build as shooters push their limits and put their gear to the test.
This month, our competitors took on the Snake River Standoff, the BCPRL Rimfire League, the Leupold Relentless SAPRF National, and the NRL Hunter Blue Mountain Big Hunter Match, securing podium finishes and delivering standout performances. Whether it was reading tricky wind calls, engaging tough positional shots, or making fast, accurate impacts in high-pressure situations, one thing remained constant—the Apex Rival and RivalX optics gave them the confidence to perform at their best.
Let’s take a look at the highlights from each match and hear firsthand from the shooters who made it happen.
BCPRL Rimfire League – Bedford, PA

The competition was fierce at the BCPRL Rimfire League match in Bedford, PA, but Team Apex’s Justin Lyons (pictured) delivered a standout performance, securing the top spot on the podium. With this win, Justin not only earned valuable points toward the PRS Rimfire Finale but also took another step closer to the 2025 IPRF World Championship, where he’ll be representing Team USA this August.
Navigating the ever-changing wind conditions on the course was no easy feat, but Justin credited the Apex CLR Reticle for its precision and reliability, making it easier to adjust and correct in constant switchy winds. His ability to stay adaptable and make quick corrections gave him the edge needed to take the win with 101 points.
The Apex Optics team was well-represented at the top of the leaderboard, with Canadian Brad O’Grady finishing in 5th place and Tyler Domonkos right behind in 6th.
The Leupold Relentless South Africa Precision Rifle League National

South Africa set the stage for an unforgettable weekend at the Leupold Relentless SAPRF National, where competitors battled not just a challenging course of fire but also the full force of unpredictable weather. Team Apex Junior shooter Donovan Cook (pictured) put on an impressive performance, securing 2nd place overall. Reflecting on the match, he described it as a true endurance test, with competitors facing sun, rain, and brutal winds—all in a single day. Through it all, his RivalX proved invaluable, keeping his vision clear and ensuring he could stay locked onto targets despite the shifting conditions.
Fellow Team Apex shooter Patrick Capes also had a strong showing, finishing 3rd in the Factory Division. He praised the epic venue, top-tier course of fire, and the balance of both physical and mental challenges throughout the match. With the weather throwing in a few extra surprises, adaptability was key—but Patrick stayed in control, proving once again why he’s a competitor to watch.
NRL Hunter Blue Mountain Big Hunter Match

The NRL Hunter Blue Mountain Big Hunter match drew competitors from both hunting and precision rifle backgrounds, highlighting the growing crossover appeal of this style of competition. With realistic field conditions and a strong emphasis on target acquisition and efficient shooting, NRL Hunter continues to gain traction across North America. Team Apex’s Chase Beckley (pictured) walked away with Top Young Gun honors, showcasing not only his skill but also the reliability of his gear. “There was one stage I couldn’t find a target in my binos,” he shared. “So I went to my scope, shot my first, second, and third target, and ended up finding my last target in my RivalX.” His success is a testament to the versatility and clarity of the RivalX in real-world scenarios.
2025 Snake River Standoff

The Snake River Standoff in Idaho marked the start of the season for Team Apex’s Kris Haughian (pictured), who returned once again to one of his favorite annual matches. Known for its unpredictable weather, wild winds, and mentally demanding course of fire, the Snake River Standoff is as much a test of endurance as it is of precision. “It’s always tough,” Kris shared. “The conditions and stages push you in every way—but I always come away having learned something new.” Despite the challenges, Kris delivered an outstanding performance, earning Top Amateur and placing 11th Overall. His consistent growth and adaptability make him a standout presence on the line each season.
As the competition season kicks off, we couldn’t be prouder of the accomplishments our Team Apex members have already achieved on the national and international stage. From battling tough conditions to rising through the ranks, their dedication, grit, and sportsmanship set the tone for an incredible year ahead. With momentum building and more matches on the horizon, we’re excited to keep pushing boundaries, chasing goals, and standing behind our shooters every step of the way. Here’s to a season of growth, grit, and great glass.
