Red Dot Sights in PRS

Red Dots Sights in PRS? Yes, Really.

While PRS is traditionally dominated by high-magnification optics, there’s a growing niche for red dots sights in PRS. Shooters need durable, intuitive optics that keep them moving through physically demanding courses. Red dots like the Atom and Fusion offer just that—with no time lost to magnification adjustments or eye box alignment.

During the 2024 IPRF World Championship match in Grand Junction, Colorado – Team Apex member Jeff Scobie was one of over 10 competitors who added an Apex Atom to their PRS set up to aid in target acquisition throughout the match.

“ The 2024 IPRF World Championships at Cameo Shooting and Education Complex in Grand Junction, Colorado proved to have very unique terrain that made finding targets on the clock very challenging being that the targets blended in with the terrain so well.

I decided to install the Apex Atom Red Dot sight on my rifle for this match. I set up the reticle to be co-witnessed with my Rifle Scope reticle and set the Atom’s selectable reticle to the 34 MOA Segmented Ring with the intent of placing the ring on my target reference point that I had picked out prior to the stage starting.

By placing the ring of the Atom Red Dot on the target reference point, then transitioning to the rifle scope, the intended target was already in the Rivals CLR Reticle and eliminated the need to zoom out/in on the Rifle Scope if a target was difficult to find.  This helped make target acquisition much quicker and saved a lot of valuable time.”

Which Red Dot Sight for PRS or PCC is Right for You?

  • Go with the Atom 1×28 (pictured banner) if you want an ultra-lightweight dot for PCC, compact rifles, or minimalist setups.
  • Choose the Fusion 1×30 (pictured left) if you prefer a slightly larger window, more rugged build, and full-featured performance across multiple disciplines.

Whether you’re clearing stages, hitting steel on the move, or running drills at the range, Apex red dots are made to keep up—and push you further.
